Come with an idea, leave with a business

This workshop series covers the different stages of developing a business in Hong Kong: inception, operations and the promotion. Founder Benjamin So will not only explain in words how it works, but will demonstrate in real-time while attendees are invited to follow. For better productivity, each workshop will last one hour and be limited to ten participants. So make sure to sign up now!

Workshop 1: Starting Up

19:00 - 20:00, Wednesday 15.7.2015 at Paperclip HK

HKD60 for Paperclip members; HKD100 for non-members.

During this workshop, we'll register a domain name and create customised e-mail addresses.

Prerequisites: we advise attendees to come with a domain name in mind, so that we can register it during the session. The registration fee (around 250 HKD depending on the name) is not included in the workshop fee.

Overview:

TALK

  • Different legal forms for a business: sole trader, partnership or limited company.
  • How to register a company on your own.
  • Choosing the perfect domain name for brand recognition and search engine results.

ACT

  • Register a domain name online.
  • Create immediate customised e-mail addresses for your business card.

Workshop 2: Refining Operations

19:00-20:00, Wednesday 22.7.2015 at Paperclip HK

HKD60 for Paperclip members; HKD100 for non-members.

During this workshop, we'll learn the basics of using the G Suite and two other cloud applications. Together, we will cover all the operational needs of a startup.

Prerequisites: this workshop is for those who wish to sign their company up for GAFW and need guidance for its setup and daily use.

All participants will receive a free two-month subscription to GAFW for them and their colleagues (up to 10 users) with no plan commitment. 

Overview:

TALK

  • How to use G Suite for managing your business: basic training in Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Hangouts and Docs.
  • Presentation of different cloud solutions for streamlining company operations such as accounting, project management, HR and support.

ACT

  • Sign your company up for GAFW.
  • Create customised e-mail addresses in GAFW for you and your employees.

Workshop 3: Increasing Scale

19:00-20:00, Wednesday 29.7.2015 at Paperclip HK

HKD60 for Paperclip members; HKD100 for non-members.

During this workshop, participants will create a basic corporate website using Google Sites and company pages on various social media websites.

Prerequisites: we advise attendees to come with the name of their business, which will be used to create the website and the pages, as well as an idea of the social media platforms they'd like to use depending on the nature of their activity.

Overview:

TALK

  • Beginner tips to promote your business on social media: how and when to post.
  • How to measure your website's reach with simple analytics (we'll use Google Analytics).

ACT

  • Build a simple company website for free (we'll use Google Sites).
  • Create company pages on Google+, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Pinterest to draw audiences to your brand and website.
